Books launched on World Children’s Day

Twelve Students of Zahira College Colombo from Grade 9 -10 English Senior Section wrote books in English and Sinhala languages in different genres such as Novel, Poetry and Short Stories.

The launching ceremony of these books was held at the College Ghaffoor Hall on the 1st of October 2021 to mark World Children’s Day.  It was held under the patronage of the Principal of the College Trizviiy Marikkar and Vice-Principal of the English Senior Section Mrs. Hijazy Mohideen delivered the welcome address.

Writers Organization Secretary Kamal Perera reviewed the Novels, the University of Wales UK Ahmed Hussain reviewed Short Stories and Harcourt’s International School Principal Mrs. Farzana Jabir reviewed the Poetry books.

Chief Guest Tower Hall Foundation Director Hassim Omar received the first copies of all twelve books from the authors at this event.

Deputy Principal Razeen Assen and Board of Governors Chairman Fouzul Hameed also addressed the gathering. Vice Principal of Tamil Section A.M. Mihilar, Head of Primary Mohamed Shazuli, Sectional Head of English Junior Sumithra Jayabalan, Prefects of Discipline Muhiseen  Ariff and College Librarian Anoja Serasinghe were also present.

Sectional Head of the English Senior Section Mrs. Shihnaz Badurdeen proposed the vote of thanks.

This event was held under the guidance of Health Authorities.
